My first visit to the Cyclops was in march 2008. As thousands of others I was stunned when I stepped inside the house. The experience was surreal, had they manage to build this without professionals? The DIY-culture was something new to me then.
During the spring and summer of 2008 I hung around the house a lot. You would find me in my friends' studio, on the dancefloor where my feet moved around to the sound of drum'n'bas music or by the graffitiwall cursing over the nails that weren't cooperating. I became active in Cyclops at the end of the summer and since then me and a friend have had a filmclub there.

To work with your hands is something that I've never been good at but to connect a soundsystem or to get the aggregates going is no longer something new to me. I have loved every drop of sweat falling from my forehead. Never have I slept so well at night if I've spent my day at the house working.

One of the finest days I have spent at Cyclops was when the Folkfestival was being held. I barely knew a soul as I was pretty new in Stockholm. Potato pancakes, ping-pong, a sambaorchestra, childrens theater and coffee grounds smiled at me that warm springday in April.

I miss the stairs. And the studio. And the attic. And the graffitiwalls that we repaired that fateful day in november.

I wish I had been a part of it all from the start and watched the one-eyed-child growing up. Instead I've been given a chance to participate when the rebuilding of Cyclopes Junior starts.

It gives me plenty of joy to know that we will be many with hammer and nail when it's time.
